1 cent euro coins are the smallest denomination. While most are worth just face value, the famous Italian Mole Antonelliana error can be worth thousands, and coins from microstates command premium prices.
🇮🇹 The Famous Italian Mole Antonelliana Error
In 2002, the Italian Mint (Zecca di Roma) accidentally struck some 1 cent coins with the 2 cent design (the Mole Antonelliana of Turin instead of Castel del Monte).
How to Identify It:
- Design: Shows the Mole Antonelliana tower (normally on 2 cent coins)
- Size: 16.25 mm (1 cent size, NOT 18.75 mm like 2 cent)
- Weight: 2.30 grams (NOT 3.06 grams like 2 cent)
